So last night - wow. First & foremost, I haven’t imbibed since my ATX days & I am hurtin’ now, which is quite sad because I didn’t even have much to drink over a loooong night. Ahh boo. Getting’ o-l-d..or having low tolerance again, funny how the body optimistically adjusts to healthy lifestyles only to have its hopes dashed…
Speaking of dashed hopes, the interview actually went quite well. Got brutally stumped on some rather first-year-poli-sci-ish trivia, but I took it on the chin & fessed up that I was totally unable to answer certain questions about the Canada Health Act (the 5 principles…umm….waiting rooms, immunization records, sterilized gloves, nasty-patterened nurses’ garb &…linoleum?? - I promptly forgot all of this after my intro POL classes, thankyouverymuch!)
I played up the music nerd angle, as well as the ‘I’m just a bright eyed lil’ gal from a small Northern town…dream, comfort, memory & despair, etc, etc.’ If there’s any regional distribution, Imma try to claim as many stompin’ grounds as possible….Actually prepped with a review of the Bright Eyes ‘digital’ EP - another orphaned iTunes album left missing me in ATX & now happily reunited thx to a bud’s care package….which will be reciprocated once I get my fingers on a PC of one’s own (Woolf would’ve wanted it that way…).
Regardless of what phone call I get next week, it was a decent experience..To prep for an interview with so many people grilling you & a weird variety of questions…like my days in juvie with informal parole board hearings.
Back to the concert, the real highlight of the day - If there were to be a paternity episode on Maury Povitch for Snow Patrol & Travis’ Baby Daddies - Trashcan Sinatras would have to come clean. They’re still wearing their shoegazer hearts on their sleeves after a loooong band-life history & sparse release schedules…but I was totally impressed with how tight they were, banterriffic between song chatter - Esp. the quip to the song-requesting-dude heckling only 2 songs into the gig: “Em. (gotta love how Scots say Em instead of Um - awesome) We use a set list & find that preparedness works quite well for us.” Boo-ya-ka super fan, burned.
Caught up with ex-classmate, too - who is a super fan in his own right. I had never heard about TS until he’d recommened’em - I missed TS 2 xs in ATX due to work & scheduling unlucky turns…so I’m glad that my first time had an expert’s narration to guide me thru the old & new catalogue & help me out with band dymanics. Good times.
On that note I will return to my bullshit-errand-running-logistics-day of begging for hours at UO (I’m just Dirt Dog tryin to make some money, So give me my streaks and gimmie my honey…), spending money that I don’t have on stuff I need & just generally TCB’in…..
